While I enjoy Senator Kennedy’s way of turning a phrase, he is part of the corrupt GOP Senate establishment. The Senate leadership sent loads of money to John Cornyn for his primary against Ken Paxton; but virtually nothing to Paxton for the general election:

There is quite a tendency I’ve observed for people gifted in the quip or turn of phrase to be really flawed people is serious respects. Trey Goudy comes to mind. But reading biographies of HL Mencken, Geo. Orwell, Oscar Wilde [he didn’t pay his bills], Bob Dylan, and Winston Churchill has created low expectations in me for people gifted with the turn of phrase, like Sen. Kennedy.
Another illustration of this problem, J. Sobran, is that the Senate Republicans are sending truckloads of money to Whatley in NC, but virtually nothing to Paxton.
They just don’t want the most consistent conservatives.
Triad, that expresses rather strikingly who they are. What could be more in character than for “controlled opposition” to put money into a lost cause (Whatley) and NOT put money into Texas, a naturally red state where it should be easy to elect a real conservative? This is not an isolated thing at all: McConnell did this kind of thing in Alaska and in Washington state [Joe Kent I’m thinking] and elsewhere. Republican leadership controls a massive amount of money via the Senate Republican campaign fund, which makes them quite powerful.
McConnell, Thune, and Mike Johnson aren’t on our side. Denying Trump his appointments Senate approval is of a piece with this. Cheering the persecution of patriotic J6 prisoners in the DC Gulag is too. And spending even more profligately than Biden is too.
When the bloodbath comes in the Nov. election, take solace in the recognition that it is just a little different set of snouts in the trough.
There are actually two funds they control, J. Sobran– the NRSC and the Senate Leadership Fund. There are equivalent entities on the House side. But you are right– there have been other instances of their denying conservative candidates and elevating moderates. It has happened repeatedly over the years.
It is tremendously disappointing because they give the appearance that they have hardly even TRIED– and it is worse on the Senate side, although the House side has had its own set of issues.
The Congressionals better start helping Paxton. Their strategy thus far has been appalling.
It would be quite a reflection upon them, Fred, if Talarico were to prevail. But I don’t think they care.
The picture becomes clearer. Zionist Miriam Adelson is contributing money to Paxton’s Dem opponent!!! Neocons are leftists in effect. And they have told Thune what to do.
