Darline Graham Nordone gets more votes than Ralph Norman. It was pretty close.
This runoff election demonstrates what a disgrace the Republican Party has become. Senate seats are precious. She does not even remotely belong in such a seat.
This is a massive discredit on President Trump and Governor Henry McMaster who collaborated to produce this absurd candidacy. It also reflects very poorly on the South Carolina Republican Party that allows Democrats to vote in its primaries.
How do we know who voted in this runoff? Unless there is exit polling, we won’t know, because they don’t even register by party in South Carolina.
Did the female vote tip her over the edge?
This is a bit reminiscent of when Trump endorsed Thom Tillis over Garland Tucker– a principled conservative who was able to self-fund his own campaign. Trump apparently wants jellyfish.
Amen to all you say, Triad, especially the last paragraph. Trump the Epstein pimp is the antithesis of a conservative. Although the Republican Party hasn’t really done anything conservative since Newt Gingrich’s Contract with America.

It’s really unimaginable, J. Sobran, how bad this episode has been. And it exposes the fraud of the “conservative” southern GOP. These were supposed to be solid red states for the most part, and the heart of the Bible belt. Look at what the GOP produces at its highest levels in these states. A great example is Roger Wicker in Mississippi. Cornyn in Texas was another, of course. Tim Scott in South Carolina was supposed to be a Tea Party guy, but turned out to be a moderate. Even Ted Budd here in North Carolina has been participating in the establishment GOP maneuvering to prevent Trump from making recess appointments. His voting record is becoming less conservative as the years progress.

I kinda like it, myself. She delivered a quip that would make Mondale or Dukakis face palm. No doubt, she’ll win, but…. When will you “conservatives” realize you were hoodwinked by a huckster who cares nothing more about his bottom line and his brand? He strategically manipulates global markets for his personal gain, and yall just go on like lemmings. He’s made billions in oil stock revenue in the past year by manipulating markets?
Allison, I think he cares about other things in addition to his bottom line and his brand.
I don’t feel hoodwinked except perhaps on the matter of the war on Iran. We knew he was not a solid Christian conservative or a limited government conservative. He brought some other strengths to the table– for instance on trade and borders. The borders issue is huge and he was the only person capable of rising to the presidency who took a stand.
But the matter of supporting GOP establishment candidates instead of conservative candidates is a wild card. The conservatives tend to support him much more intently than the GOP establishment guys. I think he feels he needs the GOP establishment folks to pass the legislation he wants and to get the cabinet officials he wants. Of course, there has been very little legislation passed, and confirmations have been slow.
