Nukes for Saudi Arabia?

Some of us have not been terribly enamored with the war in Iran.

But now there is an agreement between the United States and Saudi Arabia to facilitate the Saudi’s developing a nuclear program.

We are adamant that one Islamofascist state cannot have nuclear weapons; but we provide another with the wherewithal to make one.

Srdja Trifkovic:

If reports are accurate, this agreement is highly unusual because it paves a pathway for Saudi Arabia – an inherently unstable political edifice – to enrich uranium on its own soil. The U.S. has never before allowed any partner country to enrich uranium domestically, as this sensitive capability carries severe nuclear proliferation risks…

Saudi Arabia is still the global center for promotion and financing of Islamic extremism. While the nature of its regime remains unchanged, a true partnership based on mutual trust seems unlikely…

Five Islamic universities produce thousands of clerics, many more than will ever be hired in the country’s mosques. Thousands will end up spreading Wahhabism to the Muslim diaspora in the Western world, generously supported by the Saudi state.

Saudi Arabia is still managing to square the circle of its ostensible “partnership” with the United States, while maintaining its leading role as the promoter and bankroller of Islamic interests in the outside world.

Things seem to have gone off the rails a bit over the last six months. God help us.

  1. As you mention, Triad, the royal dictatorship is inherently unstable. And Wahhabism is much more virulent than Shia Islam, according to what I’ve read. Seems absolutely crazy.

The only logic I can imagine is that Trump is trying thereby to bribe Saudi not to cut a deal with Iran to be allowed to sell oil. 1-D checkers, per usual for Judas Trump.

    1. Saudi Arabia has historically been more tolerant toward Israel, J. Sobran, and is therefore regarded as more of an ally. But that does not justify giving them the building blocks for nukes. As you say, crazy.
