Trump’s DEI appointment of Barrett is one of his many ill-considered appointments. Davis’ assessment that Barrett lied in posing as a Constitutionalists seems right to me. Maybe it is just the nature of people who become lawyers. Half of the Republican nominees to the Supreme Ct (from Eisenhour on) have knifed us in the back.

    1. While the Supreme Court has produced many good decisions over the last few years, J. Sobran, it is really critical that they get the big ones right. They did so when they reversed Roe v. Wade and with a couple of their other decisions. However, this type of case is an indicator of the quality and mettle of the justices. If they fail a case like this, they will be regarded as a failure.

Trump should not have limited this choice to a woman. But another woman was being considered– Barbara Lagoa from Florida– who is a daughter of Cuban immigrants who fled communism. She would have been much better. And some of us knew it back then. But there was much Conservative Inc. chatter about Barrett being the best choice.
