About 31% of Americans receive benefits from at least one means-tested government assistance program in a given year. ( With Medicaid is the largest and SNAP being the second largest).
Whereas there are 170 million who are gainfully employed, according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Overall I think we are doing just fine. Oh it could be better but America is a place where dreams come true .
