It was a bit difficult yesterday to assess the full extent of this situation. But it now appears two teen-age boys are dead; and five others are wounded. The incident occurred at a time when these kids should have been in school.
At least a couple of the victims are Hispanic. We can’t be sure of the demographics otherwise. The mainstream media is not reporting whether these kids and/or their parents might be illegals.
This is a flagrant display of the cost of inadequate or absent parenting. It is also a reflection of our substandard criminal justice system reflecting “blue city” politics that includes police, prosecutors and the courts.
On so many levels, this is an incident that should have never happened.
But it did happen. The tribe is restless and wants to play. Are these events preventable ? I don’t know. Just clean up the scene and move on?
I think this type of situation is highly preventable, Fred, but it requires functioning family units properly raising their kids and a functioning criminal justice system.
And most important of all– these kids need Christ.
