The war began on Saturday, February 28. That was the date the United States and Israel began launching airstrikes.
That means the war will be four weeks old on Saturday. President Trump had promised it would be over in 4-5 weeks.
In the fog of war, it is difficult to know how things stand. Each side makes its own demands, claims and counterclaims. But Trump has nine days to keep his promise to bring the war to a conclusion within 5 weeks. The economic consequences of the war are mounting.
The below video makes certain claims about why Iran has proved to be a bit more artful and resilient than Iraq was 20-30 years ago. The video is not flattering to the British, the Israeli’s and the Americans with regard to their history in the Middle East. I cannot vouch for the truth of the claims in the video. But the Trump presidency was a major opportunity to disengage ourselves from the Middle East. Obviously, that has not happened.

I think, Fred, we need to be concerned about our troops. There are different ways of interpreting events. Greg Reese provides one of those ways. The reality is likely more complex. The Persians are adversaries who have been killing our people for many decades; and they cannot be trusted. The question is where we go from here.

I challenge you to support that. Aiding fellow Muslim Palestinians who are the victims of Israeli abuse (Gazas were in an open air prison; Hezbollah are refugees chased from their homes by the Israelis) would be pretty natural. But the Israelis killed in the chronic forever war for which they are at least partly to blame are hardly “our people”–aside from being the recipients of US taxpayer money forever and ever.
In my long life, no Iranian has ever harmed me. The Epstein class in the Swamp is my and your abuser. Our real enemy is Trump’s growing corrupt Swamp.
The Marine barracks episode during the 1980’s, the IED’s in Iraq, etc. It may be possible to attempt to rationalize the actions of the Iranians, but there are ample instances.
And what was the point of a Marine barracks in Lebanon, which Reagan saw the folly of after being talked into by Neocon advisors against the advice of his Sec. of Defense? And what exactly were we doing in Iraq? Iraq is 7,000 miles from the US, though Iran’s Shia neighbor… attacked and invaded based on Israeli WMD lies by the US. The same US that has a history of over-throwing Iranian govts and supplying chemical weapons to Saddam Hussein to be used against Iranians.
Every indication is that if we had left Iran alone, they would not have become our enemy. And even as our enemy, they’ve effectively done very little beyond being reactive. Israel and their puppet the US Epstein class are the villains. We US taxpayers must fund it like serfs, with absolutely no say in the matter. Americans must die and kill other innocent people for the Zionists.
Unfortunately, J. Sobran, you are right that we have no say in the matter with all the Jewish money deposited into the political campaign coffers.
Trump, however, is earning brownie points with the establishment Senate GOP and the Deep State.
The Reese report did have a propagandist tone, but I have no reason to doubt any of the facts presented. I’m pretty sure the early assaults by the US and Britain are exactly as described. The US has initiated 80% of the planets’ wars since 1948. We are a country facing less threat than any nation ever has, yet the US has become a bullying warmonger.
Israel and their puppet, the US ruling class, are the villains. With zero provocation, attacking Iran as the aggressor, sucker-punching them while engaged in negotiation–the equivalent of a flag of truce–Israel-US started a barbaric & unjustifiable war. Trump’s action here is beneath despicable. The war he started is unconstitutional and against international law. He is a war criminal and a mass murderer of thousands of innocent people.
