There was an initial setback at the level of the US Supreme Court. But the right side triumphed in the end.
The issue was the federal government taking away the right to free speech during Covid. It did this by threatening and coercing social media companies to suppress free speech on their platforms. These companies did this in various ways.
A settlement agreement and Consent Decree now stipulate that the Surgeon General, the CDC and CISA (i.e., the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency) cannot do these things. The final step is for the district court judge to approve.
This sends a powerful signal that the Deep State cannot take away our free speech rights. It was previously unimaginable that they would try to do this; but we must remember that the Democrats are, in fact, Marxists and therefore believe in the tenets of communist totalitarianism. Covid was an opportunity for them to show their true colors.
Dr. Aaron Kheriaty, whom we have featured here previously, was one of the plaintiffs. I am glad he is getting justice after all he has had to endure. He was fired from his position at a California university medical center because he had spoken out against Covid tyranny, even though he was a bioethics officer and his public statements were grounded in rightful medical ethics.
The wheels of justice turn very slowly. However, it is important to use the courts when the government is overstepping its bounds.
A sterling win for the good guys. Using the courts is valuable in opposing government overreach.
I hope, Fred, that the precedent with this case will also restrain other federal agencies and departments– and future socialist presidential administrations– from committing similar offenses.
