A couple of articles in the regional mainstream media report that Republicans are getting ready to propose a constitutional amendment on property taxes. It would limit property tax increases to a certain formula.
This is very much needed, but it will not completely shield us from property tax increases. It will merely limit how much of an increase can take place.
This type of legislation has never had to be considered in the state of North Carolina during the 32 years I have lived here. It is a sad commentary on how much distrust there is now for county commissioner boards particularly in more urban counties.
We know here in Guilford County they will grab as much property tax revenue as they can get.
Yup. The county’s appetite for your money is insatiable. Why not go all the way with a better and more restrictive bill.
