The News and Record reports this morning that the county school system is seeking authorization from the Guilford Board of County Commissioners to build 8 new schools way ahead of schedule. The rationale given is that the spike in the price of oil due to the war in Iran will increase the cost of building materials.
This, of course, would put even greater upward pressure on property tax rates.
It is far from clear that the hike in the price of oil will be long term. It appears to me the educrats are exploiting the war in Iran to build schools more quickly.
The commissioners need to turn them down.
Yes the Commissioners should give the education bureau elites a public spanking with a big fat NO !!!!!
Amen, Fred. They need to refrain from succumbing to this pressure.
