A couple of recent articles highlight the poor response by Governors Cooper and Stein to the various hurricanes that have affected the state of North Carolina.
Remember– hurricane relief is primarily a state responsibility, not federal.
A Washington Examiner article (HT: Carolina Plott Hound) points out the extraordinary delays rebuilding homes in response to Hurricanes Matthew and Florence. Governor Cooper was directly responsible.
A Washington Post article attempts to place the blame on Donald Trump for delays in processing buyouts in connection with Hurricane Helene damage. (HT: Fred). Governor Stein squawks in the article about the “paralysis” in FEMA’s processing of these buyouts; and in the process seeks to deflect what is rightfully his own responsibility, and instead blame the federal response.
The 2026 Senate election needs to be, among other things, a referendum on former Governor Cooper’s negligent response to the hurricanes that affected the state when he served.
What Stein says is rich with finger pointing . His hand is in the cookie jar and he says it is not. What a dunce. His quoted response to the WAPO was risible.
North Carolina Gov. Josh Stein has called the paralysis “absolutely unacceptable,” and has pushed for answers. Ha Ha !
He starts from the presumption that this is a federal responsibility, Fred, and it is not!
In the eyes of the socialists, a slow hurricane response is only tolerable when the socialists are in charge.
