More Anti-Police Reporting At The News and Record

This morning, the News and Record featured a story about a couple of black UNCG students who were stopped and detained by police. They resisted arrest; and it apparently became a huge social media firestorm.

The NAACP stepped in and criticized the UNCG police because they had failed to “de-escalate”. Apparently, we are to believe that there is an affirmative duty for police to “de-escalate”, and if they do not, then they are culpable. That is the case even if arrest is resisted.

One curious aspect of the story is that there is no full explanation for why the police initially pursued the arrest of the young UNCG student. There is only a perfunctory statement buried deep within the story. Therefore, we are to believe that the actions of the UNCG police were somehow disproportionate.

Obviously, the police had some major concerns about this young man, but that is not explained. The newspaper therefore allows the story to circulate that implies the police went overboard.

There is no limit to the degree of corruption in the legacy media.

  1. The two UNCG students deserved what they got. Marshall is a pompous wind bag . The N&R has overblown this story…. above the fold on the front page. Give me a break!
