  1. Decades of criminology and sociology research show that children raised without a father (of any race) are statistically more likely to experience challenges such as poverty, lower educational attainment, and behavioral issues. These factors in turn correlate with higher rates of juvenile delinquency and adult criminal involvement. It is pretty simple to get this picture. The question is what can be done about it.

  2. LBJ and the welfare state really did destroy the black family.

It had absolutely nothing to do with slavery. Economists Robt Fogel and Stanley Engerman provide massive statistical evidence that the family was the organization basis of relatively humane American slavery (not a defense at all of slavery just that Am slavery was much more humane than Carribean, S. American, Muslim, Roman versions–uniquely Southern slave populations increased). Families were only very rarely separated by sales statistically. That and pecuniary rewards being as integral to Southern slavery as force allowed it to exist without significant policing. The fact that free blacks in both the North and the South did not have it much better than the slaves also reduced enforcement difficulties.

Yes a tangent, but the point is that LBJ and his “Great Society” are fully to blame for this great crime against humanity.

    1. I agree with the spirit of your comments, J. Sobran. I would add that Aid To Families with Dependent Children at the federal level began during the years FDR was present. That is why the problem was already becoming evident during the mid-60’s when Moynihan spoke out.
