Roy Cooper Has A Spell Over NC Voters

Update: Axios is reporting that Cooper plans to run.

WRAL reports that Roy Cooper is engaging in fundraising. That adds to the speculation he will be running for US Senate.

He is pushing for even more socialized medicine than we already have:

“You stood with me before as we fought to pass Medicaid expansion here in NC,” Cooper said in the July 17 email. “Now, we need to stand together again. Will you let me know you’re with me by adding your name to support health care access for every American?”

Recall that Cooper was also a major league Covid totalitarian.

The problem is that he has a homespun, Southern manner that North Carolina voters find appealing. That manner, by the way, is not an accurate reflection of who he really is– i.e., a Marxist authoritarian.

Do the Republicans have anyone worthwhile who can beat him? Right now, that is not immediately evident. In the past, they have not figured out how to use his many liabilities to beat him.

    1. Bishop is a good man, although I don’t know if he can beat Cooper. He would have to run a much smarter, more effective campaign than Republicans have run statewide in NC in the past.

I’m going to reserve judgment on Lara Trump. She might be able to beat Cooper, but I don’t know where she will stand on matters of substance.
