From Whence Did These Come? NCGA Mysteries

Over the last few weeks, I have noticed a couple of issues being pushed via legislation in the North Carolina General Assembly controlled by Republicans.

The first removes liability for pesticide manufacturers.

The second makes illegal trawling for shrimp using inland waters at the coast.

For those of us who follow the news, neither of these ring a bell. We have not seen these issues discussed or “aired out” as items of concern. But all of a sudden, they show up in major bills being considered.

How did these pieces of legislation arise? What were the driving forces?

We previously learned that removing liability helped create the circumstances in which the dangerous Covid vaccines were not only made available and recommended– but also required for many people.

As the Daily Haymaker suggests, is the ban on shrimping intended to help bigger players at the expense of smaller, local fishing businesses?

  1. Seems that the big Ag lobbyist in Raleigh see the handwriting on the wall. They also see RFK Jr. speaking a little too loudly for their comfort at the fed level. I would go as far to say that they know their product isn’t as innocent as they would have us believe.

    1. Tommy, that is a great video. It really amazes me that these kinds of provisions find their way into bills. It is so brazen!

They should be passing legislation that reflects what their base wants. Instead, they pass Medicaid expansion and legalize abortion to 12 weeks. And this junk.

  2. It is more than a little mysterious but not really. As the Haymaker suggests money talks and BS walks.
