“Affirmative Action By Any Other Name” In Guilford County

The Supreme Court has clearly ruled that entities cannot discriminate on the basis of race to favor certain racial groups. The Trump Administration has moved to assure that no entity receiving federal dollars engages in DEI.

Guilford County and the city of Greensboro both have their exalted MWBE programs that seek to differentially favor blacks and women in the awarding of local government contracts. According to the federal government, this is now illegal.

So what does Guilford County do? It renames the department and has it continue to engage in the same activities while trying to make it appear otherwise. That is the impression from reading an article in the Rhino Times.

In fact, Skip Alston in the article makes it appear they are intentionally doing an “end run” around the federal government’s new expectations. It is fairly brazen.

It seems they are literally begging for a complaint to be filed with the U.S. Department of Justice.

  1. For the government to deny people fair opportunity to make a living based on skin color or gender is illegal, unconstitutional, and morally reprehensible.
But none of that ever stopped Skippy’s pandering for votes and money.
