Somewhat of a drama unfolded this week in the Politically Virtuous City.
A Greensboro police officer performed a traffic stop after gunshots had been fired in a neighborhood in east Greensboro. A video was taken in which the police officer threatened to shoot the driver if he did not comply with whatever command he was making.
In response, a new group called FREE Guilford held a press event. Of course, a liberal black minister and an NAACP leader were among those who spoke. They demanded that the police officer be fired.
Of course, the News and Record gleefully participated and magnified their grievances and their demands.
What is blatantly missing from this picture? An attitude of grace and forgiveness toward the police officer who was trying to protect that community. He might not have handled the situation in the most “professional” manner, but we also don’t know the behavior of the occupant(s) in the vehicle. We don’t see a desire for this police officer to receive due process.
Of course, if the shoe were on the other foot, we would only be hearing about the need for due process and the need to extend grace and leniency.
It would only be understandable that citizens should desire to flee such a city where this type of dialogue predominates.
I fled the Peoples Republic of Greensboro. I trust the Chief will support this officer and not cave in to the radical crowd.
Back the Blue .
I hope the chief will support his officer, Fred, but it all depends on what he and the city manager perceive the city council expects. After all these decades, this type of story STILL commands the attention of the race baiters and the corrupt local media and (of course) the local political culture.
