He drew so many votes in part because he was right on trade:
Ross Perot: “People who don’t make anything, can’t buy anything. Never forget that.”

I think it’s safe to say we forgot that. pic.twitter.com/EEWOz4L2NQ
I credit this man with giving me my first real lessons on economics and government corruption. And, yes, I contributed to Slick Willy’s election by voting for Perot. I wonder how many of us who did vote for him also voted for Trump since it had been over 20 years since we had heard anyone address that ‘giant sucking sound’ that had only grown louder over the years of selling us down the river? I’d bet quite of few – you never forget the sound of freedom and common sense, especially when you’ve not heard it in a long time.
Yes, Jan, it turns out he had somewhat of a prophetic voice. It’s mind-boggling to think of the magnitude of the errors our “leaders” made. Just think back to the high position the US enjoyed at that moment– economically and militarily. Culturally, we had already been deteriorating markedly at that point, but we had other huge areas of strength. Now, we are having to do back flips to recover.
That was 32 years ago. My-o-my doesn’t time change things.
Yes, it does, Fred. Bush was such a mistake (as was Clinton).
