“Calypso” is a song written by John Denver in 1975 as a tribute to Jacques-Yves Cousteau and his research ship, the Calypso. The song was featured on Denver’s 1975 album Windsong.
The choir adds another dimension to this song.
I really enjoyed hearing this again, Fred. Great singer/ songwriter and entertainer– always upbeat– who led a flawed, confused, tragic life.
I can’t help but think of Rush Limbaugh talking about Louis Farrakhan. Calypso Louie is what I remember Limbaugh calling Farrakhan. I miss the golden EIB microphone.
Tommy, I had completely forgotten about Calypso Louie! I miss that microphone also. John Denver’s song, of course, was pre-Rush.
Oh my, I just spewed my coffee!!!! I haven’t thought of that in many years but you are so right!!!!! My favorite part of the day was noon to 3:00. Thank you for jogging the memories!!!
