The artist is Dion– an American of Italian descent from the Bronx. This song was recorded in 1961. It resonates the insecurity young men feel when they perceive their girlfriends can’t be trusted. But he was apparently married at the time; and the song primarily reflected his feelings toward his wife’s behavior. These kinds of feelings would be averted if the young women were “doing unto others” with regard to the manner in which they managed their relationships:
