Of course, federal funding for such activities is blatantly unconstitutional. However, it is very good that Duke Energy is trying to add more nuclear to its mix for generating capacity.

More and more electricity will be needed in the years ahead, so it s a good thing that planners are addressing the future.
I agree, Fred. Duke Energy retired a number of natural gas plants in NC, so it really has to replace what it shut down to maintain reliability to keep up with growth and increased demand. Nuclear is a good option, although I never felt natural gas was a problem.
If after WWII (the war to make the world safe for Communism) the US had been a free country with a free market…where any endeavoring nuclear utility would have had to buy their liability insurance from an insurance company… Nuclear power would have developed in a much different, much safer & more organic way, and we would now have abundant electricity from safe nuclear power.
Great point, Healey. The areas served with nuclear energy until this time have typically been very fortunate because their costs tend to be less, by the way.
