Virginia Foxx To Chair House Rules Committee

Virginia Foxx, who has represented part of the Piedmont Triad in Congress for many years, has been appointed by House Speaker Mike Johnson to chair the all-important House Rules Committee. This is the committee that ultimately decides which bills will be voted upon by the full House.

Foxx is probably more conservative than the usual establishment Republican. But she IS an establishment Republican, and has been closely tied with or part of House leadership for years.

Ultimately, Johnson will call the shots. A great deal will ride on his leadership; and we have little basis to be confident at this point.

But having Foxx in this position is probably somewhat better than having some other establishment Republicans in this position.

  1. Foxx is definitely establishment and neocon. I suppose you could do a lot worse. Trump will have to pressure Johnson to make him behave. Only 3-4% of elected leaders in the Swamp could possibly be construed as taxpayer’s friends. And they are generally denied leadership roles.
