Initial Estimate For Hurricane Helene Damage $53 Billion

This is the initial damage estimate from the state of North Carolina according to AP.

The General Assembly has passed nearly $900 million in disaster recovery funds. There may be more forthcoming from the state.

The rest will come from other sources– insurance, the federal government and private charity. Insurance often does not cover flood-related damage, however. Some of these losses may never be recovered.

We all knew this would be a very deep hole from which to climb out.
