Channel 48 (WMYV, “My48”) is a local TV station that probably receives less attention than those stations connected with the major broadcasting networks. Of some interest is the fact that it is owned by Sinclair Broadcasting– a media corporation that tends to be more conservative than many of the others.
This particular channel began airing The National News Desk during the early morning and also late at night. This is a Sinclair initiative that produces national news with a much more objective/ conservative bent than we see on “mainstream media” networks such as ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC and PBS. Readers might want to check it out.
Conservative national news on a local broadcast channel is definitely a novelty for our area– and likely for much of the country.
This is not intended to comment on the other programming on My48, however.
(Interestingly, Sinclair also owns ABC 45 (WXLV). ABC/ Disney is a horrible TV network in spite of Sinclair’s ownership of that local station.)
Addendum: Here is an example of a National News Desk report that would never be aired on the mainstream media channels and networks:
#1 – Mainstream Media Airs Shocking Segment About ‘Turbo Cancer’
— The Vigilant Fox 🦊 (@VigilantFox) October 30, 2024
Fox News 45 Baltimore brought on censored doctor Paul Marik to talk about it.

Don’t have that channel here in Clarke County , VA.
But fro 5 to 11pm I have FOX.
The National Desk is surprisingly good, Fred. I use the word “surprisingly” for obvious reasons– broadcast TV channels virtually never produce objective news content at the national level.
