He gave his “State of the County” address this week. The News and Record said that “affordable housing” was his emphasis.
What does this mean?
One possibility is that we will see an increased push for socialist programs at the county level to help people afford to buy and/or rent homes; or to help developers build them. We have seen some of these types of programs discussed and implemented over the last several years both in the city of Greensboro and in Guilford County.
The second possibility is that there will be an attempt to loosen zoning requirements. We learned with the recent Summerfield episode that politicians from both parties are eager to place multifamily housing in areas that previously did not have it– as long as palms are greased.
We should be rightfully suspicious when the term “affordable housing” is used.
TC ,I indeed. recall a campaign promise ,to wit, Harris told the crowds that Uncle Sam would dole out $25,000.00 to the needy as starter money for a new home.
Guess Skip was listening.
Fred, Skip needs to retire. It has been more than 30 years our area has been afflicted.
