Ben Franklin when asked “what kind of government did you give us ? A republic , if you can keep it.
Indeed, Fred. And to the extent the socialists whine about our democracy, the public ought to be made to understand how they are ruining it in various ways.
This is exactly right. George Washington used the terms mobocrat and democrat interchangeably. The “conspiracy behind closed doors and window in July 1787” was dedicated to correcting the excesses of the unusually democractic state legislatures that developed immediately in the wake of 1776, leading to lots of money printing, debt, and difficulty of collecting legitimate debt. (The legislatures had annual elections and many, many members and relatively more who were not well-heeled; it was the most democratic the US ever was. They funded the Revolution very much on debt and not taxes.)
Great points, Healey. In addition, we should note that the crowd that currently whines about democracy being threatened is, in actuality, in favor of oligarchy and Marxism. One could easily argue that “democracy” leads to Marxism.
Indeed, Triad. When a member of the “Democratic” Party speaks these days, each accusation is really a confession. Projection is their modus operandi.
Precisely. I wish their blinded followers can see it.
