There has been much outrage over the last couple of days about the transgender male pummeling the young Italian woman– Angela Carini– during the Olympics.
This episode followed the blasphemous opening ceremony that similarly evoked outrage. Of course, the Olympics would never have done an opening ceremony that belittles Islam or Mohammed or even Judaism.
Here is a clip that demonstrates how this young woman was emotionally distraught over the episode:
Try not to cry… Angela Carini talks about competing in the Olympics for her late father.

She just quit her boxing match after being forced to compete against a man.

I think, however, that we ought to think about this episode a bit differently.
I had two grandmothers who were born in Italy– just like this young woman. I daresay that neither of them would have ever come close to imagining that they would enter a boxing ring. The mere idea of women fighting for sport is profoundly grotesque, and a complete inversion of traditional gender roles.
I even have concerns about women engaging in sport in general. Yes, there are non-contact sports, and those that do not depend on brawn, that are more suitable for women– volleyball, softball, soccer, gymnastics, etc.– but I really have concerns when I see women playing football, hockey, wrestling, even basketball. I occasionally browse the sports channels on Pluto TV and am repulsed by the displays of woman engaging in MMA, wrestling, boxing, etc.
Instead of these activities, girls and women need to be taught the feminine, softer virtues. They need to be oriented toward preparing for a life as wife, mother and homemaker. Yes, there will be some who cannot follow this path; but the current trend in western countries of woman refraining from marrying and reproducing and focusing on maternal pursuits is worrisome and destructive– for society, for children and for women themselves.
I empathize with young Angela Carini for the traumatic incident she experienced. She was unquestionably “done wrong” by a morally and ethically corrupt Olympics committee.
I also hope there is someone in her life who will guide her to pursuits that are more aligned with God’s design.
