Publius Huldah explains that one must have parents who are American citizens at the time of one’s birth in order to be a natural born citizen. Huldah argues that the founders’ understanding of the term “natural born citizen” is what should be dispositive:

Finally I think understand naturalized vs national born citizen and good to know the father’s status matters most. But how have those who are not NBCs been allowed to run for the office of President?
TCFan, Publius Huldah is employing an originalist method of interpreting the Constitution– i.e., the most valid method. But as you know, not all judges employ this method. In addition, some judges are cowardly. When this issue made its way through the courts with regard to Obama, they dropped the ball… probably intentionally.
