Congresswoman Manning released the following statement regarding the election of the new US House Speaker:
“Mike Johnson’s record of extremism speaks for itself: he was a leading architect in Trump’s plot to overturn the 2020 election, he’s voted against the right to same-sex marriage, he supports a nationwide abortion ban without exceptions, and he’s led efforts to slash Social Security. In every way, Johnson’s radical ideology is out of step with everyday Americans.
“What’s more, his radical views pose a grave danger to national security. He opposes sending aid to our democratic allies Ukraine and Israel, who are defending their nations and their citizens from Russian invasion and Hamas terrorists, backed by Iran.
“While I’m deeply disappointed that Republicans have doubled down on MAGA extremism instead of working with House Democrats on a bipartisan path forward, I will continue to seek bipartisan solutions and work hard for the people of North Carolina’s Sixth District.”
Meanwhile, Congresswoman Virginia Foxx outlined plans at the US House under Mike Johnson:
On Wednesday’s broadcast of Newsmax TV’s “The Record,” House Committee on Education and the Workforce Chairwoman Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC) said that university presidents will be called before the committee to testify on how they’re handling antisemitism and support for Hamas on campus, but also cautioned that “there are so many of them to invite to come up, we’d be having hearings day after day after day on nothing but this issue.”
Does anyone recall similar committee hearings being held in order to call in to testify those who were persecuting Christians in the wake of the Obergefell decision?
Does anyone note the contrast between the two statements above? Manning’s crowd is always on the attack– and has been for many decades with inordinate levels of vitriol. Meanwhile, Foxx’s team curries favor with Manning’s crowd and appeases them. That is the natural, existing order between the socialists and the Republicans.
It is hardly a formula for success.
