This is a very sad day for Rockingham County and for the entire Piedmont Triad. It is a sad day for Camp Carefree that serves disabled children.
Gambling preys upon the poor and becomes an addiction for many folks. It takes away the small amount of expendable income many families have; and places them in much greater jeopardy economically.
The only route to prevent this is for the General Assembly to refrain from passing legislation making casinos legal in the state of North Carolina. I don’t know how likely that is at this point.
But WRAL reports: “… (S)o far supporters have struggled to win enough rank-and-file support at the statehouse to approve more casinos.”
There seems to be plenty of opposition to the casino by Rockingham residents.

Rockingham is in Phil Berger’s district. We shall see.
