DeSantis appears to be sinking politically these days; and suspicions have been aroused as to whether he would adopt a globalist/ interventionist posture if he were president. It is unfortunate, because he also has certain strengths:

Polls suggest that DeSantis is not doing well. He has gravitas but 2024 may not be his time. Time will tell.
As you know, Fred, one of the difficulties with Republicans is that it is very difficult to get all of the right attributes and policy positions in the same person. They will have bits and pieces.
