  1. What a terrible tragedy.

    Do you recall the Earth Liberation Front ( ELF ) . They have been responsible for dozens and dozens of acts of environmental vandalism…. burning car dealerships ; burning new residential construction; arson of meat packing plants; firebombing fur breeders trucks and offices; attacks on horse farms and equipment; burning a USDA facility; breaking in vaccine laboratory and releasing ferrets and minks; vandalizing 65 SUVs, including about twenty private vehicles ; 206-unit condominium being built is burnt down causing damage in excess of $50 million; attacks several car dealerships in east suburban Los Angeles, burning down a warehouse and vandalizing several cars, with such phrases as “I love pollution” written on the cars. All told, more 125 SUVs and Hummers, which were targeted due to their lower than average fuel efficiency, are damaged or destroyed causing $2.3 million in damages; spiking trees… I could go on but here is a link to some of their terrorist acts from 1997-2008.

    “Domestic terrorism is the unlawful use, or threatened use, of violence by a group or individual based and operating entirely within the United States (or its territories) without foreign direction, committed against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a government, the civilian population, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives…During the past several years, special interest extremism, as characterized by the Animal Liberation Front (ALF) and the Earth Liberation Front (ELF), has emerged as a serious terrorist threat. The FBI estimates that the ALF/ELF have committed more than 600 criminal acts in the United States since 1996, resulting in damages in excess of 43 million dollars.”

    There were finally some arrests and the group went dormant in 2012.

    This fire in Texas seems to have the same ring as the earlier ELF ecoterror acts.

    1. I suppose that could be the case, Fred. Remember also the wildfires in Canada within the last couple of years that had impacts in New York City. Those were intentionally set also. That has been the case with some of the wildfires in California.

      Given the enormous amount of land that was affected by the Texas wildfires, I suppose we are fortunate there have only been two known fatalities thus far.
