There were a couple of interesting developments yesterday regarding former Governor Roy Cooper who is running for US Senate.
First, Clay and Buck started their show yesterday with a discussion of their perception that Cooper will immediately become a leading presidential contender for the socialists if he wins his Senate race. In my lifetime, they have run three southern men– LBJ, Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton– for the White House. It gives them an appearance of acceptability.
The discussion is in the first 10-15 minutes if you choose to watch and listen:
The other story concerns his health. The North State Journal has repeatedly been submitting inquiries to his campaign about any health issues he might have given the fact he is 69 years old. In response, he sicked the Democrats’ nasty Jewish lawyer, Marc Elias, against the newspaper. Elias sent a “cease and desist” letter.
That suggests to me some degree of hypersensitivity over the issue. I know, as a physician, that by the age of 69, the vast majority of folks have at least one or two ongoing medical problems. They might not be disabling or life-shortening, but most of us have them by that age.
Why won’t Cooper come clean about his medical history?
ANSWER:
BECAUSE THERE IS PROBABLY A SERIOUS ISSUE WITH HIS HEALTH. OTHERWISE HIS SPOKESMAN WOULD HAVE PUT OUT A POSITIVE STATEMRNT. AT LEAST THAT IS A CONLUSION THAT CAN BE DRAWN.
That is what I inferred, Fred. I wonder if and when we will find out with more certainty.
Limbaugh wasn’t perfect, but had the decision been made by him, he would never have selected these 2 guys (who are significantly more superficial than he was) to take his place. They are all about the horse race, something gossipy, or sports betting…never about any discussion of ideas that would recruit and educate people to the philosophy of limited government and individual liberty. Sorry for my cynicism, but these guys are kind of emblematic of murky, lost state of “conservatism”.
I agree, J. Sobran. I particularly don’t like Travis’ promotion of sports gambling. I think Sexton is more substantive than Travis, but nobody can top Limbaugh whose talent was “on loan from God”.
An outfit called Premier Networks chose them. They apparently wanted a younger vibe to attract a younger audience. I don’t know otherwise how these two men were identified or connected with Premier Networks to take over the show. It was a surprising choice when it happened.
