This doesn’t feel right. This police officer had already been fired over the incident. But then he was criminally charged over shooting a suspect. This person was so agitated that he also had to be tased four times.
Police had been called to respond to a gentleman having a “mental health crisis”. The city had previously made a big deal over hiring a mental health team to respond to these situations, but in spite of that, this police officer was interjected into the situation. There was also a question of “breaking and entering“.
I suspect this former police officer was wronged by a system that has increasingly been rigged against police responding to agonizingly difficult situations. Can we trust the city of Greensboro on this matter?
It sounds like the Chief is rethinking this matter.
Perhaps, Fred. But as usual, the entire approach in the city of Greensboro to dealing with these issues is a major disservice to police officers. Why would any of them want to work for the city of Greensboro?
