I recall, probably more than ten years ago, that there was a move afoot in North Carolina to extend in-state tuition for illegal immigrants at North Carolina community colleges and/or state universities. And a bill introduced last year would achieve a similar purpose.
Such an idea is totally wrongful. It would mean that illegal immigrants would pay less tuition than American citizens from adjoining states such as Virginia, South Carolina and Tennessee. It would place illegal immigrants over American citizens.
It turns out that a federal judge killed a similar effort in the state of Illinois on Friday. The judge’s rationale was that the effort would grant illegal immigrants greater consideration than American citizens. I hope this decision holds up as the case weaves its way through the appeals process.
Remain mindful that that the socialists have pushed for similar measures here in North Carolina multiple times since the turn of the 21st century. They would give illegals a higher level of preference than our American neighbors.
Fox News reports on this issue:
Oh, it is a such a wrong and ” stoopid ” idea. Just praying that the Dems and their buddies remain in the minority for a long, long time.
Just say no to illegals voting.
I remember this being floated here, Fred, upwards of 20 years ago perhaps. And as the post suggests, they introduced a bill last year. It really is an affront to the good people who live in surrounding states. While we don’t owe them in-state tuition, the mere premise illegals would get it first is downright wrong.
