The institution of work requirements and citizenship verification for SNAP benefits inevitably will result in some people no longer receiving this particular type of taxpayer-funded governmental charity.
Fox 8 had a story that indicates 12,000 households in Guilford County lost SNAP benefits with these recent changes at the federal level.
The TV station tried to make it seem like a desperate situation. But this change very much needed to happen. In fact, it could be argued that even more stringent action should have been taken.
We should not presume that the welfare state is morally or ethically required; or that it cannot be reversed.
Boo Hoo. Please spare me the tears.
According to the below state report Guilford is second ( 90,000 ) to Mecklenburg.

Fred, it seems that for many years the media has resolved to conduct its business in such a way to make it impossible for government to reduce the welfare state. It requires very atypical leaders to swim against this current.
