Jimmy Kimmel And “Song Of The South”

After Jimmy Kimmel made his awful statement over the last week anticipating the death of President Trump, it has been open to speculation whether he keeps his job. He works for ABC which is owned by Disney. There are reports that the FCC is considering whether to yank the broadcast licenses of local stations owned by Disney.

While the mainstream media organizations like Disney/ABC have always had a liberal bias, this particular entity has gone further “woke” during recent years. While Walt Disney himself was unabashedly Christian, this is no longer a Christian company.

I was reminded of an old Disney movie, “Song of the South”. Because of the manner in which certain characters and cultures are portrayed, Disney made the decision it would never stream it, air the movie on cable or market the sale of videos of this movie in the United States.

I suppose it might still be possible to purchase bootleg copies of the film.

In any event, here is an excerpt– the famous Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah. This is a song that echoes in my mind from childhood. “Song of the South” was a very sweet movie that does not deserve all the targeting via political correctness. According to the ethical standards of Disney/ABC, it is perfectly acceptable to engage in extreme media bias even to the extent of propagandizing the death of a sitting president, but will not allow such a movie to be viewed:

  1. Yes , I recall my mother taking me to downtown Knoxville, circa 1946, to see Song of the South. The movie was an exhilarating thrill to me.

In 1967 I took my daughter to visit Joel Chandler Harris’ home (the Wren’s Nest) in Atlanta. While there I purchased an illustrated GOLDEN BOOK covering Song of the South.

Harris’ first book was entitled ” Uncle Remus: Songs and Sayings. ” which morphed into the movie.
