Raleigh Republicans Going After Cooper

Lo and behold, the Republican majority in the General Assembly plans to investigate Roy Cooper for the fateful decision he made to release prisoners during Covid. That decision took place around June, 2020.

There was a gubernatorial election that year. The Republicans then were very circumspect about opposing Cooper and calling him to account.

They are investigating now that an establishment guy– Michael Whatley– is opposing Cooper in the November U.S. Senate election. In fact, they should have been making a huge issue during 2020 when Dan Forest was running against Cooper.

Cooper had it way too easy when he was governor. The Republicans should have held him to account when he was doing terrible things. There was hardly a whiff of opposition; and that cost the citizens of this state severely.

  1. Let’s pray that this time is not a repeat . I don’t think Cooper is not that popular but the GOP has to come out and win the independents.

    1. All the handwriting is on the wall, Fred. Whatley will have to pull a rabbit out of a hat to win this thing. It’s not impossible, but Cooper’s negatives need to be driven upward much more than has been the case in the past. The Raleigh GOP helped create this monster by not challenging him openly, time after time.
