  1. Richard Baris has good polling mechanics and his results accurately report the state of opinions on various issues. I am surprised at this positive news. Despite falling church attendance Christianity is the dominant force in religious life today. It doesn’t matter if you are a pastor or layperson, attend weekly or monthly, most agree being at church is necessary. Regular church attendance must always be the beginning of Christian responsibility but never the end of it. God calls us to something far more precious, far more beneficial, and far more glorious than simply sitting in the pew.

    1. Thanks for some great comments, Fred. While Baris states some pastors are unconcerned with evangelism, that is certainly true within the liberal mainline church, Catholicism and eastern orthodoxy. It is less true within the evangelical denominations– but some are better than others in this regard. Pastors also need to be concerned with teaching the entire counsel of scripture and fostering discipleship.
