Nothing against the them but I have been hospitalized three times since moving to Virginia and have been seen by Pakistani or Indian doctors The real American doctors are the ones who treated me. The foreign MDs visit once a day ,for just a few minutes, and ask how I am feeling and thats’s about it . The next time is when I see an EOB from my insurance and Medicare where they have billed and paid. It looks like a racket to me.
There is no question it is a racket, Fred. The hospital systems employ them as hospitalists because they are cheaper and easier to control. They may have good training, or perhaps they may not. But the billing to Medicare– and the collection FROM Medicare– is the same as if it were a fully trained American physician. Here in North Carolina, you may recall that the General Assembly passed legislation to make it easier to have more of them practice in the state.
