UNCG Stands By Its Police

The News and Record did a better job in its follow-up story after its horrible initial coverage of the incident that took place on the UNCG campus. It became clear in this story that the UNCG police had ample justification for intervening in this case during which a young black man and his apparent girlfriend resisted and/or obstructed them from doing their job.

It should be noted that state Senator Michael Garrett– a Democrat– popped off and rendered judgment in a highly public fashion without knowing the facts. He is a jackass.

The best part of this story is that UNCG’s administration stood behind its police, unlike what we have seen with the city of Greensboro. We can speculate why that might have been, especially in view of the fact that the university is “woke” in so many other respects.

Perhaps the fact that the University of North Carolina answers to a Board of Governors that is appointed by the Republicans in the General Assembly has something to do with UNCG administration’s measured, responsible handling of this matter.
