Jimmy Kimmel Won’t Be Seen In Triad

The announcement by Disney/ ABC that Kimmel is returning to his show is a disappointment.

Here in the Piedmont Triad, we have reason to be thankful, however. The local ABC station– WXLV 45– is owned by Sinclair Broadcasting. And that organization plans to refrain from airing Kimmel’s program, at least for now:

Recall I had previously written about Channels 45 and 48– both Sinclair stations– airing the National News Desk– a daily news program that is not presented from a progressive/ socialist worldview. Sinclair is one of the more conservative corporations that own TV stations. Locally, however, it is tainted because of its affiliation with Disney/ ABC.

  1. I will no longer watch the local ABC WXLV,
My country once believed in freedom of speech. I intend to watch Jimmy Kimmel.

  2. Sinclair is tainted by being a major owner of the airwaves, which once were cited as belonging to the people and a voice for free speech. Unfortunately, Ronald Reagan effectively ended this with his call to effectively destroy the Fairness Doctrine.

Sinclair, like all corporate voices, should be limited to 5 Broadcast stations, as was the case before Reagan. Now they own 200. Bad for Freedom. Bad for America.

    1. A Fine, by extension of your argument, perhaps the major networks– ABC, NBC, CBS, PBS– should be limited to 5 broadcast stations that carry their signal. If the problem is disproportionate influence, let’s get to the heart of the problem.

  3. I have never watched a second of Kimmel’s not so funny Trump bashing.

Kudos to Sinclair for their decision not to air it.
