Why? Because the media gives them a platform. Check out Pastor John Pavlovitz, Wake Forest, NC and you find one of their loudest, most venomous megaphones to date. His agenda is disguised as evangelical but is wrapped up in creating division, preaching “another gospel” and turning parishioners into ardent voting blocks for the radical left. The tide has been shifting but we’ve been sunning ourselves on the shore, too comfortable to wade into the the waters.
Jan, I was unfamiliar with that particular “pastor”, but will try to find out more. Yes, this is a big part of it. The worst voices are given the most prominent places from which to make their pronouncements. As you suggest, there is a crying need for biblically orthodox Christians– as denominations, as individual churches and as individuals– to engage. Otherwise, the vacuum is filled by the Pavlovitz types.
