There is much drama in Washington, D.C. with the case of the Epstein files, Bondi, Bongino and Patel. This is superimposed on other items of concern that include extending the war in Ukraine; bombing Iran; and illegals getting the green light to work in certain industries.
But we also have drama in the Politically Virtuous City. The former City Attorney who recently resigned abruptly is under investigation by the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI); and it is rumored that Councilman Zack Matheny is also being investigated by that same SBI.
The city of Greensboro’s political environment for many decades entailed nearly all city council members being funded and/or installed by certain special interest groups; and then delivering politically for these groups. The City Attorney’s function has been to extend legal cover and legitimacy to the workings of this Machine.
It is unsurprising that the SBI would be investigating. The question is why it didn’t happen decades ago.
We don’t need to know the details of these particular cases in order to arrive at the conclusion that the SBI’s involvement is not unexpected. The question is what set of circumstances led to these particular referrals at this particular time. Sometimes, the underlying dynamics go unreported.
We also cannot arrive at the conclusion that the SBI investigations will necessarily be fruitful or result in charges. The SBI is under the control of socialist state Attorney General Jeff Jackson.
Don’t get excited. As you point out the SBI is under control of the NC Ag’s office.
I even debated in my own mind posting about this, Fred. That is why there was a delay of several days after the news hit.
Given the fact that Matheny is functionally a Democrat in so many ways, and the former City Attorney is a black guy, I somehow doubt the socialist state Attorney General will prosecute to the max. Of course, I could be wrong…
