NC Supreme Court Justice At Greensboro “No Kings” Protest

We learn from the News and Record that Associate Justice Anita Earls spoke at Greensboro’s “No Kings” protest yesterday. Recall that she was previously executive director for the socialist legal advocacy organization called the “Southern Coalition for Social Justice”.

A couple of points need to be made.

First, it is profoundly unseemly for a state Supreme Court Justice to be behaving in this manner. This appearance makes it quite clear that she will not be impartial as a judge when she rules on certain matters. But judges are bound by a code of ethics to be impartial.

North Carolina has a Judicial Standards Commission that is supposed to hold judges to a standard of ethics; but this commission is quite satisfied to grant the socialist justices freedom to commit violations.

Second, Justice Earls remained utterly silent when Governor Roy Cooper behaved like a real king during Covid. He was a bona fide tyrant. Earls conveniently overlooked his actions but is exceedingly eager to label Trump as a “king”.

She makes a mockery of the court on which she sits. She ought to be removed.

But she faces the voters in November; and I hope Sarah Stevens defeats her.
