Readers might recall that a handful of Democratic NC House members have been voting with Republicans on some key bills. Carla Cunningham from Mecklenburg County is one of these. Because of her “infidelity”, Governor Stein is endorsing her primary opponent.
It should be noted that Ms. Cunningham is a black woman.
But that is not all. It turns out that the black Democratic County Sheriff in Mecklenburg– Gary McFadden– has allegedly threatened Ms. Cunningham if she does not vote the right way in the NC House. In response, she has filed a legal complaint against him to have him removed from office for various reasons.
This proves that Greensboro and Guilford County do not have a monopoly on political mess in the state of North Carolina. Charlotte has had a meteoric rise in the ranks.
