Several government reviews in the UK have reported failures by British institutions in preventing, identifying and prosecuting the widespread cases of group-based child sexual abuse and exploitation that mostly occurred between the 1990s and 2010s. Allegations of governmental and institutional failures to respond to the problem or to downplay or cover up the issue have been described as a grooming gangs scandal.
Some studies have reported that majority of offenders were white. But there is another side to that story. In 2025, a former Home Office minister said group-based child sexual exploitation was “perhaps the greatest racially motivated crime in modern Britain”, and said it was covered up by the British state to protect community relations.
I don’t believe here is the USA that Pakistan rape gangs would be tolerated.
What has happened in the UK, Fred, is absolutely shameful. It has been replicated, at least to some extent, in some other European countries.
I hope you are right that it would not be tolerated here. Given our culture’s surrender on so many other important matters, I wish I could be more confident about that.
