News such as this suggests that something is terribly wrong in our city government.
It is far too big, and engaged in far too many activities, to even remotely justify paying this many people six figures.
This large crowd also provides a built-in constituency to keep growing city government. The taxpayer is a mere afterthought.
The city bureaucracy is a self-aggrandizing incestuous daisy chain. Tax and spend will never stop short of a dramatic event. Hint, hint !

I agree with your characterization of the city bureaucracy. There is a self-serving angle among the bureaucrats and the political class with regard to how this developed over the years. A wrecking ball is needed.
