The Virginia Socialist AG Candidate

The national conservative media is abuzz with the revelations about the democratic socialist candidate for Virginia Attorney General, Jay Jones.

This is yet another indication of how the state of Virginia has changed. I lived in the state for seven years. At that time, the Democrats who led the state as governor were fairly conservative, at least in some important respects– Chuck Robb, Douglas Wilder, Gerry Baliles…

That is all gone– a distant memory. As in other states, a demonic spirit has prevailed among Democrats.

  1. I lived in Virginia from 1970 to 1972 and from 1977 to 1983 . During that time Virginia had 3 Republican Governors. The present Governor Glenn Youngkin is also a Republican.

I now have lived in Virginia from 2022 to the present and plan on voting for Winsome Sears in the election for Governor . Her opponent Democrat Abigail Spanberger is working hard to cast herself as a centrist who can appeal across party lines. Her campaign points to her background as a mother, a former CIA officer, and a practical problem solver. Yet her record in Congress tells a different story. Spanberger has been a reliable vote for Democratic priorities, many of which echo the progressive policies pushed by New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani.

PolitiFact found that Spanberger supported all 73 bills and resolutions backed by President Biden. She has regularly voted with her party’s leadership and has one of the lowest conservative ratings in Congress. The pattern is clear: her rhetoric may lean moderate, but her votes do not.

    1. If I remember correctly, Fred, I think Spanberger has not repudiated the trans agenda. I think her candidacy is being hurt by the AG candidate, and the fact she has not distanced herself from him.
