Pastor Mark Driscoll raises a good question. Since the assassination took place, people need guidance and clarity regarding how to interpret the evil that surrounds us. He suggests that your pastor’s decision as to whether to discuss the assassination is an indication of whether you should be attending that particular church:
If your church did not address the demonic murder of Charlie kirk, you need a new one.

If your church didn’t address the demonic murder of Charlie Kirk this weekend, the pastor is a coward and needs to repent or resign.

This perspective might seem a bit harsh. However, this event has been on the minds of many people; and they would benefit from examining the situation in accordance with a biblical worldview.
Some pastors might not address the situation at all. They might have a rigid conception of what should be discussed during a worship service. As we have discussed previously, pastors who share JD Greear’s perspective refuse to discuss political matters because of the perception that it will interfere with evangelism. Sometimes, there is outright cowardice, as Driscoll suggests.
Other pastors might discuss it, but they might suggest there is somehow moral equivalency between the political right and the political left. Of course, that is a fraudulent, evasive claim. It is analogous to the claims made by some more recent seminary graduates that “Jesus is neither left nor right”. That is, once again, an evasion and utterly mistaken.
In fact, there has been much more political violence on the left than on the right. The media/left complex attempted to hype the events of January 6, 2021 to suggest that the right is violent; but the events on that day– in a broader perspective– were very mild compared with other things we have seen.
It would be interesting to hear whether pastors discussed the assassination.
I am 100% behind that message from Pastor Driscoll.
I am also, Fred. It can be challenging to find a good, biblical church, with good pastoral leadership, but they are out there.
